Educators are responsible for developing and delivering quality, educational, fun programs on a variety of topics for all visitors. The Educator- STEM Program Manager is part of this team of Educators.

Essential Job Functions

 

? Develop and lead engaging, varied, thought-provoking, interactive experiences, including public programs and special events, for children and families as an effective member of the Program team as directed by the Senior Manager of Public Programs.

? Assist with the development of, and teach, educational programs for students and teachers that support exploration, discovery, and investigation and are based on best practices and current research in Child Development and STEM education.

? Contribute ideas, creativity and perspective to Museum programming and exhibits.

? Act as lead planner and educator for special events and festivals focusing on, but not limited to STEM.

? Assist with multidisciplinary programs, major events, school vacation week and summer programming as directed by the Senior Manager of Public Programs.

? Train and mentor other Educators, floor staff, interns and volunteers.

? Serve visitors from diverse populations with age appropriate programming in a courteous and professional manner.

? Act as exhibit mentor for assigned exhibits, which includes: training VEAs, developing and managing programming in the exhibit; checking the exhibit regularly; communicating needs for restock and repair; keeping current, accurate documentation about the exhibit and related programming, contributing to exhibit improvements, including evaluation.

? Act as exhibit mentor for Science Playground.

? Responsible for the care of Boston Children’s Museum’s live animals.

? Participate in the local Early Childhood Science Education community.

This position will work a regular schedule of Tuesday-Saturday, 9am-5pm.

 

 

 

Qualifications:
BA/BS in relevant field required

? Background in Science, Technology, Engineering/Design, Math, Museum Studies, or Science Education with a minimum of 2 years of experience in developing and delivering STEM experiences to children in formal and informal educational settings.

? Experience/knowledge of STEM in early childhood (0-5) and early elementary ages.

? Excellent written and oral communication skills. Comfortable presenting to large groups.

? Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability work well with multicultural, intergenerational audiences, in an energetic, friendly, outgoing, and professional manner.

? Excellent organizational and computer skills.

? Experience with live animal care in educational settings.

? Bilingual or fluency in Spanish, Chinese, or other language desirable.
