The Director of Marketing will work in partnership with senior management, the Executive Center Director and, as appropriate, members of the Board to manage the Center’s marketing strategy and enhance its brand. A key institutional priority is to increase public participation and engagement with the organization at all levels. The Director of Marketing will contribute to this effort by addressing the organization’s image; making it more relevant, increasing external positive perceptions, and attracting new and diverse audiences. The organization’s marketing plan will be built from a foundation that includes a strategic audience development plan and extensive market research.

The ideal candidate must be a creative thinker with strong consensus building skills. Superior management expertise and the ability to build relationships, both internally and externally, will ensure that the brand and the activities to promote it are effective and successfully managed. An understanding of the visual arts world and its audiences is essential.

PRIMARY RESPOSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Marketing

  • Work with management team and consultants on branding and graphic re-design.
  • Develop a comprehensive marketing plan
  • Be responsible for achieving incremental 10% in revenues in marketing related activities
  • Ensure that marketing strategies are executed consistently across all platforms.
  • Build consensus and foster a shared understanding of the meaning and value of branding in general and of the organization’s brand specifically
  • Work closely with Director of Communications to ensure consistent messaging.

Management

  • Manage internal/external promotional materials to ensure brand consistency, including: advertising, public information, signage, electronic and print direct mail communications, website, and social media content
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of integrated marketing and advertising efforts to support audience development, membership and fundraising initiatives, space rental, and Archtober Festival. Measure and report all outcomes.
  • Manage all advertising for the Center and its exhibitions and programs.
  • Coordinate the Center’s submissions to design-industry annual publication design competitions and selected design awards.
  • Take a lead role in organizing and expanding month-long design festival of Archtober.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelors Degree or higher
  • Minimum 4 – 6 years experience in marketing and/or brand building. Relevant experience with the arts and cultural facilities preferred
  • Understanding of and experience with all channels of marketing including advertising, direct mail, digital marketing, and social media.
  • Proven experience in development and implementation of marketing plans with clearly articulated, measurable goals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally and productively with colleagues, senior staff, Board members, and outside contractors.
  • Must possess personal qualities of forward-thinking and a “can do” attitude. Demonstrated ability to be resourceful, thoughtful, and able to work within limited budgets.
