The Old Colony History Museum seeks an energetic and creative Community Programming Coordinator who is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating adult, family, and children’s programs, which include formal and informal educational programs as well as special events, group tours, and visitor services initiatives. Reporting to the Director, the Community Programming Coordinator shapes the strategic direction for all future education programming at our growing institution. The Community Programming Coordinator will also work to raise awareness of the Old Colony History Museum in the community and look for new opportunities for educational outreach. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is an excellent communicator with both adults and children and who enjoys working both collaboratively and independently. This is a part-time position with flexible hours.

Duties include:
·         Guiding the visitor’s participatory opportunities within the museum
·         Overseeing the development, planning, and delivery of programming and special events
·         Managing and promoting local school group tours
·         Developing/presenting off-site programs for groups of all ages
·         Developing take-home resources that foster understanding, engagement, and continued curiosity
·         Foster relationships with other institutions and members of the community to develop collaborative programs
·         Manage record-keeping of all program and event details and oversee program assessment and evaluation

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required in Museum Studies, History, Education, or a related field, Master’s Degree preferred. Experience in public programming at a nonprofit educational institution required. Commitment to developing new initiatives and willingness to experiment and take risks. Experience with evaluation and/or assessment of programming preferred
