Under the supervision of the Public Programs Manager, the Public Programs Coordinator aids in the implementation of a broad range of public programs designed to assist visitors of all ages and abilities—including adults, children, and families—to experience and understand the Amon Carter’s collection and special exhibitions.

Responsibilities

Work with the Public Programs Manager and other museum staff to plan, execute, and evaluate exhibition- and collection-driven public programs for a variety of audiences, including adults, children, and families.

In collaboration with the Public Programs Manager, assist with maintaining the public programs budget and provide support for grant management.

In collaboration with the Public Programs Manager, maintain the public programs calendar, program attendance statistics, and program evaluation data.
Produce correspondence, contracts, and travel itineraries for program presenters. Produce check requests and purchase orders in compliance with museum purchasing system guidelines.
Provide public programs support by assisting with visitor reservations and acquiring and preparing program supplies.
In collaboration with the Public Programs Manager, contribute to promotional copy for printed and electronic publications, and help solicit subscribers to add to the museum’s public programs marketing database.
Maintain confidentiality of museum information; other duties as requested.
Job Requirements
Qualifications

BA degree in art museum education, art history, museum studies, or related field; MA degree in related field a plus
Minimum of one year of experience working with the public; experience with various ages in an educational setting a plus
Demonstrated ability to work congenially and productively with museum staff and the community
Professional presence; diplomatic and comfortable in dynamic situations
Excellent writing and public speaking skills for audiences of all ages and abilities
Ability to manage details of multiple projects and deadlines
Computer proficiency with MS Office products
Flexibility with work schedule, including some nights and weekends
Supervision is received from the Public Programs Manager. Supervision is provided over program volunteers as directed by the Public Programs Manager.
