The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking a Camp Instructor, Adventures In Nature- Summer Camp. As part of the Education & Exhibits Division, the Camp Instructor works closely with the assigned Camp Counselors, Camp Lead and Manager, Programs to support, implement and facilitate summer camp programs. Primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to): teaching campers pre-developed curriculum, working closely with Camp Counselors for activity development & facilitation, planning and presenting programs, and helping create an engaging, creative and educational camp experience. The AIN Camp Instructor is expected to become familiar with camp programs and museum resources at both the Page and Natural History Museum in order to be able to lead campers and camp counselors effectively. In addition, the Camp Instructor will interact with Guest Relations, Gallery Interpreters, Research and Collections and other staff at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and the Page Museum. As this position involves daily contact with children, Camp Counselors and NHM Staff, the position requires effective communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess a high degree of professionalism and courteousness. Previous experience with summer camps or another informal learning environment with children, and a general interest in natural history is required.

Salary is commensurate with experience. This is a temporary full time position from June 15, 2015 – August 07, 2015.

Job Requirements
This position has the following requirements:

Previous experience working with a children and diverse populations.
At least 2 years of college or Bachelors Degree completed, with a background in education, biology, natural science, or related field required.
Desire and ability to work with children both in an indoors and outdoors environment.
Excellent follow through and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and customer service skills. Bilingual ability, especially Spanish, is a plus.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
