The iconic Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (BCRI) is seeking a passionate, innovative and galvanizing leader to lead it into its next level of evolution. As a convener, reconciler and cornerstone of civil rights history, BCRI has engaged youth, city leaders and activists globally, nationally and locally to empower people to build inclusive communities.

BCRI is at a critical inflection point. As BCRI looks towards its 25th anniversary in 2017, the next chapter of BCRI’s growth will seek to fuse its strong programmatic reputation with its desire to secure its financial future.

In partnership with a committed board, a dedicated and loyal staff and a grateful community, the President will lead BCRI into a new chapter of impact, stability, innovation and relevance.

Key mandates for the new President include:

  • Continuing to strengthen the brand of Birmingham and further cement BCRI’s role as the cornerstone of the civil rights story;
  • Leading measurable and deliberate progress towards increasing earned and contributed revenue, reducing dependence on public resources; and
  • Building on and advancing BCRI’s legacy as a relevant icon and hub for dialogue and authentic community problem-solving.
