Summary

This exciting, newly-created position for a Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for managing and cultivating all major donors ($1,000-$9,999). S/he will also be launching and stewarding a new patron donor group – the Jewish Museum’s first Contemporary Circle for contemporary art lovers. S/he will collaborate with curators and colleagues across the Museum to plan and execute events, handle donor queries and special requests, and communicate effectively with the Individual Giving team. Vision, creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit, combined with strong project management, organizational and communication skills are important for this position. Experience in the arts, fundraising, and related areas required. Must have knowledge of contemporary art, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent project management skills.

Responsibilities Include:

Patron Program:

Manage all aspects of the Patron Program to increase revenue and build membership
Partner with Director of Major Gifts and Director of Membership to identify, cultivate and solicit new and renewed Patrons ($1,000-$9,999)
Ensure Patron Program database records are up-to-date
Implement a Moves Management program for the Patron Program
Oversee implementation of Patron Program benefits
Contemporary Circle:

Establish and manage all aspects of new donor group
Partner with senior staff and lay leaders to identify, cultivate and solicit new Contemporary Circle members
Design and coordinate a diverse calendar of exclusive contemporary art programs for members of the Contemporary Circle
Oversee implementation of Contemporary Circle benefits
Cultivate relationships with donors and prospects, communicating with them regularly
Ensure Contemporary Circle database records are up-to-date
Implement a Moves Management program for the Contemporary Circle
Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate renewals and acknowledgments for all donor levels including Trustees, Museum Council, Patron Program, Acquisition Committee and Contemporary Circle members
Interface with the Executive Director and Deputy Director, External Affairs offices to track all development related meetings
Provide weekly revenue updates on all donor groups
At the direction of the Director of Major Gifts, assist with the updating of all collateral materials (brochures, website, etc.)
Update and manage the Trustee/Museum Council/Patron/Acquisition Committee/Contemporary Circle calendars
Assist with all departmental events when and where necessary
Manage the donor listings
Participate in Major Gifts strategy meetings
Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Minimum 5 years of related experience in the arts, museums, art business, fundraising, and/or Jewish communal field
Knowledge of and strong interest in contemporary art
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse group of donors
Superior written and oral communication skills
Well-organized, detail-oriented, and proven project management skills
Willingness to work occasional weekends and evenings as necessary
Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge or other development technology for prospect identification and research
Bachelor’s degree required
