ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION:
The Children’s Creativity Museum (CCM) is San Francisco’s hands-on,
multimedia arts and technology
museum for kids. Our mission is to nurture the 21st-century skills of
creativity, collaboration, and
communication in all youth and families. Each day, we are inspired by what
our visitors imagine, create,
and share, and we fold this creative spirit into everything we do. As we
celebrate the success of our
recent transformation from Zeum to the Children’s Creativity Museum, we are
looking for an exceptional
leader to accelerate our trajectory towards becoming a recognized top
destination and community
resource for all youth and families. Since the launch of our new name,
weekly attendance and new
members are both up 36% and 49% respectively. We have been mentioned in
various media outlets
including The Wall Street Journal and SF Business Times.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Executive Director is responsible for the successful execution of the
CCM’s mission, as well as the
creation and management of the organization’s long-term strategic plan and
annual operating plans. With
support from the Board of Directors, CCM’s Executive Director ensures the
financial sustainability of this
approximately $2M organization and plays a major role in developing and
sustaining relationships with
potential and current community and funding partners and other key
stakeholders. He/she will also be
responsible for the fund-raising associated with both annual operations and
future capital campaigns.
The CCM’s Executive Director represents the organization as its chief
spokesperson both locally and
nationally and provides leadership to CCM’s talented and diverse staff of
nearly 20 full-time and 30 parttime
employees.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors. The current direct
reports to the Executive
Director include the Director of Finance & Operations, Director of
Development & Marketing and the
Director of Programs & Experience.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Create, maintain and implement multi-year strategic plans supporting the
performance of the
organization’s mission and vision to be a recognized top destination and
community resource to
all Bay Area youth and families.
* Provide leadership in both fundraising/development and earned revenue
generating activities to
ensure ongoing financial stability and potential future capital campaigns.
* Develop and sustain relationships with potential and current community
leaders and city officials.
* Serve as the chief spokesperson for the organization and its mission.
Build positive relationships
and partnerships with key institutions, donors, members, community-based
organizations,
governmental groups, and the press, as well as other arts, non-profit and
neighboring
organizations.
* Lead a diverse team of staff and volunteers with a focus on teamwork,
collaboration, and a high
level of performance. Inspire others to share a passion for the mission and
a commitment to the
organization and the team.

* Significant experience in a leadership role in either museums or
not-for-profit or for-profit
environments in organizations of similar size and complexity to CCM with a
focus on children.
* Exceptional leadership, fundraising and entrepreneurial skills with
demonstrated ability to achieve
financial results with a transparent, collaborative and creative style.
* Successful track record in fundraising, leadership, organizational and
financial management.
* Exceptional communication skills and the ability to tell CCM’s story in a
way that engages and
compels donors, community leaders and families.
* A passion for CCM’s mission and a commitment to positively impacting the
lives of youth and
families in the Bay Area and beyond. Experiences with family programming,
childhood education,
and creative arts are preferred.
* Advanced degree in museum studies, non-profit management, business or arts
administration, or
similar preferred.
COMPENSATION:
This position offers a non-profit salary commensurate with experience, plus
a creative and collaborative
work environment, and a benefits package that includes generous paid leave,
