Paid Summer Internships [Highfield Hall]

Summer Internship: Environmental Education
Highfield Hall in Falmouth seeks a summer intern with environmental education expertise to assist the Education Coordinator in developing and teaching nature-based activities for Highfield’s new summer camp program for children ages 5–8. The internship requires a commitment of 20 hours in June for activity planning and six weeks of teaching during camp sessions (Monday through Friday, 8:30am–1:30pm, July 9 through August 16, 2012).

To qualify for this internship candidates must:

*   demonstrate a strong interest in environmental science and education
*   show enthusiasm for teaching young children
*   be comfortable working outdoors in all weather
*   be able to work independently and as part of a team
*   think creatively

A stipend of $1,000 will be offered to the appropriate candidate for a commitment of 140 hours. This is a brand-new program and a great resume-builder for a creative, self-motivated student who is pursuing a degree in environmental science and/or education and wishes to gain hands-on experience in an informal learning setting. Education Coordinator [Highfield Hall]

Education Coordinator
Highfield Hall, an historic site and cultural center on Cape Cod, is
looking for a creative and enthusiastic educator to serve as the next
member of our growing staff. This is a two-year, IMLS funded position,
20 hours per week with the possibility of becoming permanent. The
Education Coordinator will develop, deliver and evaluate quality
educational programming, primarily for children and families, across a
variety of themes (art, history, nature, culinary, gardening). The
Education Coordinator will function as part of a collaborative team in
an inspirational environment. Candidates should have a passion for
learning and children, experience teaching in informal settings, and a
demonstrated ability to develop and present engaging programs. A
degree in education, arts education, or museum studies is preferred.
