Curator of Education
New Jersey State Museum

The New Jersey State Museum seeks a Curator of Education with responsibility
for all Museum educational programming.  The Curator selects, plans, manages
and evaluates a diverse slate of educational programming for the general
public and school audiences.  The Curator of Education – in partnership with
exhibition curators – is also responsible for developing exhibition-specific
curriculum guides and educational materials including programs, activity
sheets, interactive devices, docent tours, as well as other materials as
required.  The Curator of Education is responsible for managing the Bureau
of Education’s operations: maintains budget and program statistics,
supervises staff and volunteers, contributes to relevant grant applications,
and participates in professional associations, as well as the overall
planning of the Museum’s exhibitions, events and public programs.  Knowledge
of marketing and community outreach, as well as a comfort with public
speaking and instruction is desirable; performs related work as required.

Requirements – Experience:  Five (5) years of professional experience in the
field of education, three (3) years of which shall have been as
administrator of an education department in a major cultural institution or
an accredited museum and shall have included experience in public
information, mass communications and internet-based media.  Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree
supplemented by a Master’s degree in Education, Education Administration,
Curriculum Development, Museum Studies or in one of the Museum’s subject
areas.  License: Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license
valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee
mobility is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Residency:  New Jersey Residency required.  If you do not reside in New
Jersey, you have one year after the date you begin employment to relocate
your residence to New Jersey.  Salary: $75,673.05 – $107,990.52.
