>The Henry Ford seeks a Curator of Education who will collaborate
>with internal and external partners to advance and realize the

Curator of Education [The Henry Ford]

The Henry Ford has a full time opportunity for a Curator of Education.  This position collaborates with internal and external partners to advance and realize the institution’s educational mission and vision.

Leads and/or participates in the development of innovative and content-rich onsite, offsite, and online education programs and products for all venues of The Henry Ford, catering primarily to the non-K-12 sector of youth and adult audiences.

Coordinates all aspects of youth and adult program and product development including thorough needs-assessment, benchmarking research, program concept and business plan development, prototyping, event management, actual implementation,  budgeting and budget management, training, material development, and evaluation of product use and reporting. Manages all other aspects of the youth and adult programs such as record keeping, resource coordination, communication, and reporting.

Familiarizes him/herself with youth and adult audience program needs and criteria such as Scout badge requirements, 21st century skills alignment, summer camp formats and structures, afterschool program best practices, adult program training and delivery mechanisms etc.

Keeps current on and shares research, case study of best practices, trends on youth and adult programs across the museum field.

Practices collaborative spirit in program conceptualization and implementation working with The Henry Ford education staff, venue program staff, and other departmental staff such as Marketing and Sales, Creative Services, ITS, Historical Resources, IMAX and exhibit staff, partners and vendors.

Participates on the exhibit development team (permanent and flex gallery exhibits) and contributes toward exhibit interpretation and presentation as the voice for visitors.

Must have 4-5 years’ experience in a leadership or managerial capacity working with youth and adult public programs in a community or cultural organization.  Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in History, Science, Education, Technology, or Museum Studies, with a Master’s Degree desired. Requires proven knowledge and skill in developing educational experiences and building relationships with the non-K12 audience as well as adult and general visitor audiences; knowledge of audience needs, current engagement theories and best practices; and proven management abilities.
