This project was developed by four veterinary students as a part of the Tufts Lyme Disease Challenge in 2019. The purpose of this project is to harness the bond that exists amongst people and their pets as a means to discuss Lyme disease prevention across species. As you will learn through the various other pages on this website, Lyme disease is an infection carried by ticks that affects both people and animals. Enjoying certain activities with our pets, such as yard work or hiking, come with risks such as exposure to ticks that may carry Lyme disease. But, there are strategies that people can utilize to prevent themselves and their pets from getting Lyme disease.

The goal of this project is to inform pet owners about the risks, prevention strategies, and clinical impacts surrounding Lyme disease. By informing owners and eliciting behavior change, the project aims to help reduce the number of Lyme disease cases in people and pets. We hope this information proves to be valuable and we invite you to complete our survey HERE to share your website experience with the project coordinators.
