Annotating Characterizations
Objective: trace the characterization of a mythological figure in the ancient sources
- Go to www.perseus.tufts.edu
- In the top right search window, type the name of the mythological figure you are annotating
- Within the search results, find significant words and expressions that describe your figure >e.g. “rabiem” (enraged) describes Scylla in Vergil’s Aeneid 1.200 >Use this entry as model:http://perseids.org/sites/joth/#book/urn:cts:pdlrefwk:viaf88890045.003.perseus-eng1/read/urn:cts:pdlrefwk:viaf88890045.003.perseus-eng1:S.scylla_1
- Enter the Greek or Latin word that describes your figure with an English translation in the body of your annotation
- Copy the citation URI found in the right-hand column on the Perseus page and paste in the body of your annotation as well
- add the keywords ‘characterizationOf’ and ‘PSN’ in the tags
