hypothes.is is a browser extension ( aka a web-app that runs on any web-page ) used to annotate text.
Install hypothes.is
Chrome
- Go to http://hypothes.is
- Click Install Chrome Extension
Firefox
- Go to http://hypothes.is
- From the application menu go to
View > Toolbars > Bookmarks Toolbar
- Drag and drop the Launch Hypothesis button onto the Bookmarks Toolbar
Open hypothes.is
If hypothes.is doesn’t open automatically, open it manually.
In Chrome click its icon.
In Firefox click Launch Hypothesis from your bookmarks toolbar.
You know hypothes.is is open if you see a comic text bubble and a red eye icon on the right side of your browser window.
Create a hypothes.is account
- Click Create an account in hypothes.is.
- Fill out form.
- Check your email.
- Click the account validation link hypothes.is sent you.
You have an activated account!
Use hypothes.is
- Highlight a name and click the pen icon hovering over the highlight.
- A form will open on the right side of your browser window.
- Fill out the form providing the relevant stable id and keywords.
We consider all data added to this form an annotation.
Be sure your keywords are properly separated. Hit the “Enter” key after every keyword.
You will have to make your hypothes.is annotations public in order for the data to be imported later on. You have to be logged in to see the public icon.
