Roger is a Professor of Physics and the Chair of the Department of Physics & Astronomy at Tufts University. He earned an A.B. in Physics from Harvard College and his PhD in Physics from The University of California-Berkeley. His research interests include, experimental condensed matter physics, surface science, chemisorption, adsorbate effects on electronic conduction, and infrared spectroscopy of adsorbates.
In addition, Roger has strong interests in science education, energy policy, and the physics of sports (especially baseball!). He helped to develop the NSF-funded Fulcrum Institute for Leadership in Science Education, and is particularly interested in the interconnectedness of mathematics and science education.
