I watched Ms. Thernstrom's Lecture at Tufts (via video), and loved it. One of the reasons she is so appealing, is because she puts a face, and lends a voice to the often misunderstood, "Chronic Pain Patient". I finished her book in five days, after reading about it in the Boston Globe. I loved that she talked about the shame and silence that often accompanies chronic pain in women. She is a fellow warrior in the fight to accept our burden of unrelenting pain.

The purpose of existence of such communities is the natural need too be understood or to socialize with people who are going through the same painful stages- thus you will not feel alone with your diagnoses. Pain research can only explain you what is happening with your body, it can not be a cosolation.

I suffer from a persistent pain in my back and neck almost all the time. Luckily, walking and some training help me to feel better but only for a while. I would definitely take a look at your resources cause they look pretty interesting!

I have cronic pain since 3 years now. I learned a lot off things about it to read articles like this! This article has a lot off good information, but it is also very interesting to know that there are so many people who are in the same situation. There should be more sites like this and perhaps an idea to do more with informing people to prefent? Because one important thing I have learned: You always can have something that gives you this pain, but when you don't listen to your own body, and just go on the way you do, it only will get worse.

Unfortunately this has been gaining more traction, even for disorders, like trigeminal neuralgia, that more often then not, require neurosurgical or neuropharmacolic action.
For any population changes in diet can be a help whatever the malady. For those of us in intractable chronic pain simple answers like this, especially when reported in small population study, increases the disbelief that many of us face when we are disabled and debilitated as a result of chronic intractable pain.
Thank you.

Dietary manipulation of the lipid content in food intake has long been recognized to either promote or suppress pro inflammatory prostaglandin synthesis. This can either increase or decrease pain. Also it appears that some fatty acids may bind to cannabinoid receptors and may suppress pain.
