Fall 2011 Auditions!
by Elena Caple on Aug.17, 2011, under Home
Whether you’ve been taking ballet classes since you could walk or you just like to get down on the club floor, we want to see you at our auditions! Come to Cohen Auditorium on September 18th at 11:00 am. Make-up auditions are on September 19th at 9:00 pm in the lounge of Lewis Hall.
Here’s a not so secret fact about SoC: a lot of our dancers had never taken a class or even danced at all before they auditioned! For us, it’s not about which dancers have the best technique, or the most flexibility, or the best memory of the steps. We look for who has the most charisma, who is having fun, who really loves to dance. So relax!
Try-outs are separated into two rounds. First round will be a piece of easier hip hop choreography and a piece of easier contemporary choreography. It’s not mandatory to do both, but we like to see you push yourselves so give ‘em both a try if you want! The second round is another piece of hip hop and another piece contempo choreo – both a bit tougher. In this round, we expect that you do both pieces but you’ll have the chance to tell us which genre you prefer, so we will obviously be taking that into account.
Psst! Here’s a tip from some of us. Wear something flashy! It’ll help you stand out. Also, bring water. Wait, also bring attitude. And plenty of it. Duh.
If you want more information, come to our General Interest Meeting on September 14th in Braker 001, or email us at spiritofcolor@gmail.com.
