Assess Student Learning

Overview
No single assessment tool can reveal the extent of student learning. A more accurate understanding is better accomplished by selecting the appropriate type or combination of assessment tools. An important distinction is to always clarify between whether the purpose is to plan for future learning (formative assessment), or whether it is to assign a grade for what students have learned (summative assessment).
