The 5th Annual Tufts Environmental Literacy Institute:
“ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNICATION: URBAN ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIAL JUSTICE”
We will explore some of the most important environmental problems that society has and continues to face. We will take an urban focus and use case studies from:
1) Environmental Pollution with a special focus on Environmental Justice
2) Sustainable Agriculture and
3) Distortion of Science
Through these studies, we will illustrate the social and scientific components of effective education and why some changes are more difficult to communicate and enact than others. We will also discuss pedagogical strategies for how best to teach these ideas to students in different disciplines.
TELI 2012 will be mainly hosted at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, 160 Packard Avenue on the Medford Tufts campus on the 7th floor of the Cabot Center. Refer to the daily schedule for specific timing and details for field trips.
