On September 8th (Thursday) at noon, join our very own Tina Woolston, Director of the Tufts Office of Sustainability, as she discusses the sustainability efforts here at Tufts, resources available to students and opportunities to get involved. If you’ve ever wondered about installing solar on campus or where the food from the dining halls goes, this is the perfect place to learn and ask questions about your ideas for innovation on campus!
Tina has worked in the Office of Sustainability since 2007, initially as Project Coordinator and then as its Director. She created the Eco-Ambassador program for staff and faculty and an Ex-college course on sustainability in action. She works closely with Tufts Recycles, Tufts Institute for the Environment, Purchasing, Dining Services, and others on sustainability initiatives across the university.
Tina also co-founded MaynardCAN!, a local non-profit that organizes and promotes sustainability initiatives in the city of Maynard, MA. Prior to Tufts, she worked for the Earthwatch Institute as their Program Manager for Sustainability. She received her Master of Science from Cornell University.

Lunch & Learns began in the Spring of 2011 to create opportunities for environmentally-minded undergraduate students, faculty, and interested staff to communicate and interact on environmental issues.

The Leadership Institute of the Center for American Progress seeks to identify, equip, and advance a new generation of leaders from diverse backgrounds and communities to assume responsible roles in the development and implementation of progressive public policies.
The program will consist of nine Leadership Fellows, drawn from those with experience working with communities of color, who have demonstrated an interest and commitment to progressive public policies. The Leadership Fellows will gather two days of each month for nine months to discover, define, and develop skills necessary to create and advocate policy ideas to diverse constituencies.
Leadership Institute Fellow applicants should be highly motivated individuals seeking to expand their skills, perspectives, and networks to impact progressive social change. Successful applicants will have a demonstrated interest in filling the gaps that exist between traditional public policies and communities of color.
The Institute will present a program of engagement for Fellows that includes seminars, policy organization observation, visits to policy and media hubs, networking events, dinner discussions, and an assigned policy project. The program will assist Fellows in developing:
- Links and networks between the fellows and the progressive policy world, including grassroots organizations, media, and government
- Methods to introduce policy ideas to diverse groups and move policy ideas from inception to permanent mainstream change by employing field operations, research analysis, legislation, nonprofit collaborations, and tactical messaging

The Office of Sustainability at UC Berkeley is now hiring an Energy Management Communications Specialist. The Energy Management Communications Specialist will help implement the marketing plan and coordinate communications for the Energy Management project and will report to the Director of Sustainability. The position will be responsible for maintenance and growth of the project website, staffing marketing and outreach events, analyzing identified audiences and the success of outreach efforts, coordinating social media efforts, and other marketing support activities. The Communications Specialist will also work closely with the Energy Management project teams, the Energy Office staff, and the Sustainability Manager. This is a 24 month contract position.

Duties: The Director, Sustainability is a leadership position within the
Business Services Division with responsibility for expanding the Division’s commitment to campus sustainability, including business development and project successes. Key activities include identifying, researching, analyzing and supporting all sustainability initiatives within the Division.
The position develops, analyzes and benchmarks the Division’s sustainability efforts and works with constituent groups to enhance the Division’s participation in campus sustainability programs. The position is also the primary liaison between Business Services, Facilities & Real Estate Services, and other sustainability contacts within the University and external to Penn. This position reports to the VP, Business Services with a dotted line to the University Architect.
Qualifications: A relevant Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in
environmental science or similar, plus a minimum of 3 years to 5 years of post-degree experience ideally in a large, complex organization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. LEED AP certification is highly desirable, preferably with Construction Management/EBOM specializations. Demonstrated ability to complete projects on time and on budget. Experience with LEED projects and with reporting on project status and progress. Solid analytical, decision-making and problem solving skills.
Excellent communication and presentation/training skills, combined with demonstrated expertise in developing effective partnerships. Understanding of triple-bottom line reporting. Familiarity with life-cycle analysis, risk profiling etc.
