The Small Planet Institute seeks two dynamic interns for fall 2011. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with Frances Moore Lappé in a small organization doing groundbreaking work on hunger, poverty, food sustainability, and living democracy. Current initiatives include preparing for a national book release, publicity outreach, research for upcoming publications, and general program support.

Duties may involve, but are not limited to:

  • Administrative and communications assistance, such as database management, correspondence, and website updates;
  • Research assistance, including fact checking, referencing, and research for articles, blogs and publications;
  • Assistance with academic and partner outreach campaigns; and
  • Social networking activities (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, and blogging).

The ideal candidate has excellent verbal and written communication skills and superb research abilities. S/he is motivated, highly organized, detail oriented, and a self-starter who can work well with little supervision. This internship will start in early September. Hours are negotiable, with a minimum requirement of 12 hours per week. We offer a stipend for all interns.
