Duties: The Director, Sustainability is a leadership position within the
Business Services Division with responsibility for expanding the Division’s commitment to campus sustainability, including business development and project successes. Key activities include identifying, researching, analyzing and supporting all sustainability initiatives within the Division.
The position develops, analyzes and benchmarks the Division’s sustainability efforts and works with constituent groups to enhance the Division’s participation in campus sustainability programs. The position is also the primary liaison between Business Services, Facilities & Real Estate Services, and other sustainability contacts within the University and external to Penn. This position reports to the VP, Business Services with a dotted line to the University Architect.
Qualifications: A relevant Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in
environmental science or similar, plus a minimum of 3 years to 5 years of post-degree experience ideally in a large, complex organization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. LEED AP certification is highly desirable, preferably with Construction Management/EBOM specializations. Demonstrated ability to complete projects on time and on budget. Experience with LEED projects and with reporting on project status and progress. Solid analytical, decision-making and problem solving skills.
Excellent communication and presentation/training skills, combined with demonstrated expertise in developing effective partnerships. Understanding of triple-bottom line reporting. Familiarity with life-cycle analysis, risk profiling etc.
