This internationally acclaimed event summons environmental, industry and social justice innovators to bring focus on food and farming, health and healing, green business, indigenous knowledge, environmental and social justice, women and youth empowerment, spirituality and sustainability, all working to catalyze a movement to heal our world.

Oct 20-21: Carbon Smarts Conference

The conference brings diverse communities together to examine the potential of Out of Home Media(mass transit, billboards, posters, smart phone apps., radio, etc.) to foster informal science learning about climate change among the commuting adult population.

Experts representing marketing, communication, risk analysis, science education, mass transit, informal learning, and atmospheric research will share their experience and ideas on how to improve the public’s understanding of climate change science with special attention given to new digital tools.  The conference focuses on developing discourse between academic and industry personnel with a goal of laying a foundation for more creative, collaborative, and effective initiatives.

Oct 12: Film Showing – A Sea Change

Imagine a world without fish. It seems inconceivable, but top scientists warn that such a catastrophe may in fact play out in coming generations unless widespread awareness is raised to stop ocean acidification.

Follow retired educator and concerned grandfather Sven Huseby back to his stunning ancestral sites where he finds cutting-edge ocean research underway. His journey of self-discovery brings adventure, surprise and revelation to the hard science of acidification.

“A Sea Change” is a recipient of the NOAA 2010 Environmental Hero Award and won the award for Best World Documentary at the Sedona International Film Festival.

Oct 11: Film Showing – Carbon Nation

The Center for Sustainable Enterprise and Regional Competitiveness, in partnership with the Department of Environmental, Earth and Ocean Sciences, the University of Massachusetts Boston, and the New England Clean Energy Council is pleased to host an exclusive screening of: Carbon Nation

carbon nation is a documentary movie about climate change SOLUTIONS. Even if you doubt the severity of the impact of climate change or just don’t buy it at all, this is still a compelling and relevant film that illustrates how SOLUTIONS to climate change also address other social, economic and national security issues. You’ll meet a host of entertaining and endearing characters along the way.
