Summer Food System Intern, Office of Food Initiatives (Boston, MA)

This internship will focus on Boston’s sustainable food community in the broadest sense, from production to waste management. The food systems intern will be tasked with conducting an assessment of the activities and actors that comprise Boston’s sustainable food system, identifying strengths and weakness, and most importantly, opportunities for impact. The Office of Food Initiatives will serve as a liaison and enable this intern to meet and interface with a diverse group, from the urban farmer to the small-­-scale food vendor to local representatives of national businesses. Specific projects include an assessment of Boston’s food landscape (from large scale groceries and corner stores to community gardens and public orchards) and advancing a conversation around subsidized Community Supported Agriculture models.
