The Alliance to Save Energy is seeking a full-time Program Associate to assist with implementation of its PowerSave Campus Program. The Program Associate will work in the Alliance’s Oakland, CA office or from a home office in the LA area. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the nonprofit Alliance to Save Energy (www.ase.org) promotes energy efficiency worldwide to achieve a healthier economy, a cleaner environment, and greater energy security.
The PowerSave Campus Program is a student-driven energy efficiency and workforce education and training initiative currently serving 23 campuses nationwide, including 16 in California. The program employs and manages paid student interns to develop and implement projects that promote careers in the sustainability field, generate energy savings on campus, increase awareness of the importance of energy efficiency, and encourage the infusion of sustainability concepts into academic curricula. Over 75 university students are employed yearly through the PowerSave Campus Program, each trained to emerge as a highly skilled sustainability and energy efficiency professional at the time of graduation. Candidates must have exceptionally strong written and oral communication skills, along with experience in project management, team building, public speaking, and meeting facilitation. In addition, candidates should be self-starters who can juggle multiple tasks with minimum supervision, have a good eye for detail and, at the same time, be capable of seeing the bigger picture. Experience working with campus sustainability initiatives is desirable, and a familiarity with energy efficiency technologies is a definite plus.

Second Nature is seeking applications for an intern to join the American College & University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) Program Team to assist on projects that aim to advance climate leadership and sustainability education initiatives at colleges and universities across the country. The Sustainability Capacity-Building Intern will work on a variety of activities to advance the goals of the ACUPCC and other Second Nature initiatives related to education, green building, greenhouse gas reporting, and climate action planning. These program activities may include analysis of energy and climate data, outreach support to signatory institutions, blogging, social media management, and webinar development. The Intern will also focus on supporting special programs with minority-serving institutions, climate adaptation and resiliency, and select fundraising activities.
Position Details: This position requires a 6-month working presence in the Second Nature office in downtown Boston during working hours (9am-5pm), beginning late January or early February 2013. Candidates will work 20-30 hours/week with flexibility around holidays and academic calendars. This is a competitively paid internship.

Green City Growers, Massachusetts’ premiere vegetable gardening business, is seeking an intern for spring 2013. GCG specializes in raised-bed garden installations, maintenance, and education for residential, business, restaurant and community locations. We are a small business (6 full time staff), and operate out of Union Square in Somerville.
GCG is seeking a positive, driven individual interested in immersing themselves in a growing business. Your time at GCG will be focused on sales, marketing, and business development. You will learn many aspects of running a small business. If you are looking to gain a wide variety of professional experience, this internship is for you. Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Creating and executing newsletters
- Blogging and utilizing social networks
- Emailing and following up on sales leads
- Assistance in scheduling and coordinating workshops out of the GCG Office space
- Attending and finding events
- Track and analyze marketing data
- Aid in the development of new sales techniques
The position will last until the end of May. The internship is part time (2-3 days a week). Candidates will only be considered if they can commit to the position until the end of May.
