Third Sector New England (TSNE) provides management and leadership resources to help nonprofits support healthy, just communities. The Consulting and Executive Transitions Program provides capacity-building consulting services, focusing on executive and organizational transitions, succession planning, coaching for leadership and teams, and general consulting.
This internship is an amazing opportunity to shadow nonprofit organizational development consultants in the field, gain first-hand knowledge of the internal management of a nonprofit consulting practice, delve deeply into the theoretical underpinnings of executive and organizational transition consulting, understand how nonprofit organizational assessments are conducted, and learn about process evaluation for nonprofit capacity building efforts.
There are multiple paid positions available. In this cohort-style internship program, you will be placed with a team of interns to work on both independent and group projects, and engage in biweekly group learning sessions with consultants on a variety of relevant topics. The overarching goal of this program is to develop emerging leadership in the field and provide a unique learning experience that mixes on-the-ground consulting work with in-depth research and learning.
This internship will be customized to fit both your personal learning goals and TSNE’s organizational goals. However, some potential projects could include:
- Shadowing consultants in the field, taking notes at meetings, analyzing data, and drafting reports for clients
- Evaluating internal systems and processes, providing recommendations for improvement
- Researching specialty areas within organizational development consulting, and developing materials for use by consultants
- Developing TSNE’s training series and supporting event planning
- Identifying funding/sponsorship partners and alternative funding models for trainings, events, and/or programs
- Doing environment scans and in-depth analyses of other organizations doing capacity-building work in specific areas such as fiscal sponsorship or organizational transitions
- Researching social media/online marketing tools/best practices and crafting communications strategies
- Participating in TSNE’s ongoing strategic planning process by researching trends in the nonprofit sector
- Attending learning convenings of TSNE consultants and interim leaders
- Conducting independent projects co-developed by the Intern and TSNE staff
