The Office of Sustainability is looking for a Program Intern to take charge of our Green Labs Initiative. Research laboratories and hospital facilities were singled out as the greatest source of opportunity for increased sustainability across all Tufts campuses due to their large production of waste and heavy use of water and energy. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about sustainability and resilience in relation to climate change and able to work well independently and in group settings.

Job responsibilities:

  • Convene meetings for the Green Labs Committee to meet on a monthly basis.
  • Develop agendas, meeting notes, and updates for the committee.
  • Correspond with various departments, faculty, staff, students and other personnel to gain information important to the initiative.
  • Research best practices for green labs.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Reliable, with good time management skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent research and writing abilities
  • Interest in sustainability
  • A can-do attitude
  • Comfortable talking to and working with faculty and staff from across the university in person and via phone and email

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Graduate students preferred
  • Experience working in a lab or hospital setting
  • Knowledge of sustainability efforts at Tufts

Pay rate: $15/hour
8-10 hours/week
