The PLAN team is excited to announce another job opening! We are seeking an experienced organizer to serve as the The Break Free From Plastic Campus Campaign Director. This individual will build and activate a national campaign to divest college and university campuses from single-use disposable plastics by securing commitments to the Break Free From Plastic Campus Pledge.

This position would entail the following:

  • Connect and recruit student groups on college campuses using PLAN’s existing network, starting with those who we’ve been in conversation with in regards to plastic-free work already.
  • Build out a campaign strategy that will secure campus commitments to the BFFP Campus Pledge and grow this campaign over time across the country.
  • Serve as liaison between PLAN, Student PIRG and the international BFFP network, and other organizations working to eliminate single-use disposable plastics.
  • Work with campus stakeholders to build out strategies that fulfill their pledge commitment, building stronger campus communities that do not depend on plastic.
  • Attend student group meetings and various in-person events on participating campuses.
  • Coordinate cross-campus connections between student contacts.

Logistics:

  • Hours Per Week:  Full-Time 40 hours/week (somewhat flexible) with occasional night-time, weekend, and overnight activities
  • Location: Location is flexible, but our two offices are based in Philadelphia, PA and Dover, NH. 
  • Compensation: Salaried position starting at $30,000/annually. Available benefits include PTO throughout the year,  a designated electronics stipend, a monthly health insurance stipend, and annual cell phone plan. While traveling for PLAN-related events, employees will receive per-diem, and housing accommodation, while PLAN will be responsible for transportation-related expenses.   • Start Date: July 8th
  • Eligibility: Eligible applicants have experience in campaign organizing, particularly on or in relation to a college or university environment. In addition, applicants have a passion for grassroots environmental issues, social entrepreneurship, and student leadership for positive social change.
