The O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law is seeking an exceptionally qualified candidate to serve as an O’Neill Institute Associate to work on various projects in our national and global health law research portfolio. Institute Associates are based at the Law Center and report to the O’Neill Institute Director and Project Director(s). Associates work on policy projects and anticipated tasks include preparation and drafting of white papers, memoranda, and articles for publication; organization of research colloquia and expert meetings; coordination of interdisciplinary research teams; and grant writing. This position is offered for one year with possible renewal based on project needs and resources. Associates will receive a competitive salary with outstanding benefits.

Candidates should have a J.D. degree (or equivalent) with exceptional academic credentials; applicants with additional qualifications in public health, economics, business, public policy, and economic modelling and analysis are preferred. Candidates should also have research interests in health law and policy related areas such as public health law and financing, health economics, global health law development programming, and development programs.

One potential project the Associate will work on seeks to develop models of how US global HIV and health investments contribute to global peace and security and US job creation. The purpose of the project is to help engage business leaders, the defense establishment, and the US government to understand the short-and long-term return on investment from increased appropriations for global health programs. The Associate hired for this project will conduct literature reviews of data, reports, case studies, etc., and provide research support for the pre- and post-modelling consultations, modelling development, and Congressional briefing sessions and post-session reporting. The Associate will be primarily responsible for the coordination of the substantive drafting and revision of a final report and other potential publications.
