-Collecting and reporting data for the GVSU American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) agreement including the annual Climate Inventory and Climate Action Plan
-Collecting and reporting data for GVSU sustainability reporting including the annual Association for the Advancement for Sustainability in Higher Education, Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System (AASHE STARS) Report
-Helping to identify on campus and off campus internship and associate opportunities for students and assist with placements
-Coordinating, supervising, and overseeing student interns and volunteers on sustainability projects
-Working with students and student groups to conceptualize and develop student run sustainability projects e.g. Eco-rep Program, Zero Waste events, Bike Rental Program
-Providing leadership for a clearinghouse of GVSU sustainability related programs and activities, events, data and information, as well as an overall sustainability calendar
-Serving as a liaison with facilities planning and facilities services, as well as with departmental staff
The Program Director will be responsible for oversight and responsibility for day-to-day affairs of the Institute, performance and cohesiveness of Institute staff, clarity and efficiency of operations, strong relationships with internal and external constituencies, and sound financial management. In consultation with the Faculty Director, develop and refine strategies and programs to achieve the missions and goals of the Institute. Work closely with prospective and existing students to ensure continuous improvement of high-quality educational programming and support services. Provide the leadership to maintain an effective External Advisory Board (EAB), Strategic Advisory Council (SAC) for the benefit of both the Institute and board/council membership. Provide operational and strategic leadership support to the Faculty Director and Associate Directors and associated faculty in carrying out the mission of the Institute.

The program brings together environmental and social change leaders from academia, business, government and the non-profit sector. It offers intensive leadership training and regional networking opportunities.
