The Administrative Intern will serve as a core member of MAPC’s four member Administrative team, which supports the 70 members of the MAPC staff. MAPC is located in the downtown crossing section of Boston. This is a part-time position with some flexibility as to working hours; pay pro-rated accordingly. Base week is 20- 25 hours. Duties include a wide variety of office support tasks, including ordering supplies, assisting with mailing projects, maintaining electronic calendars, assisting all staff members with research and database tasks using various software tools.
Candidate must currently be in school to be eligible for the position working toward either an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s or higher degree. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Candidate must also be able to lift objects including boxes with a weight not to exceed 50 pounds. The Town of Concord seeks a qualified applicant to intern with the Division of Natural Resources. Under the general supervision of the Natural Resources Director, the successful candidate will review and update existing Excel databases and assist with the general organization of office files, maps, and plans.
Candidate must be able to interpret legal documents, organize data in spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel, and maintain organizes logs and spreadsheets. Familiarity with Orders of Conditions issued under the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, property and plan information, and a working knowledge of the Middlesex Registry of Deeds online database is desired.

The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) seeks an intern to work in the Public Health department of its Boston office. MAPC is a regional planning agency serving the people who live and work in the greater Boston region. This internship will be working on a research project related to “public access to public lands,” which will be looking at issues such as utility rights of way, municipal utility districts, schoolyards and other potential expansion of open space opportunities. The ideal candidate is a law student with substantial independent research and writing experience. Only current students will be considered for this position.
