Multiple Positions – One Acre Fund (Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi)

One Acre Fund is a start-up initiative that works with persistently hungry farm families in Kenya, Rwanda, and Burundi. Instead of giving handouts, One Acre invests in farm families to generate a permanent gain in farm income. Our “investment bundle” includes education, financing, inputs, and export market access.

One Acre Fund is looking to fill multiple positions, both in rural areas and Nairobi. We are looking for entrepreneurial, ambitious, and independent people who can be given large amounts of responsibility – immediately – to develop One Acre Fund’s program model. Expatriate staff have made significant contributions to our success, from building our monitoring & evaluation systems to scoping potential districts for expansion; from trialing new crops to managing and mentoring other staff. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a strong work ethic, and are passionate about creating change in the lives of others, please consider joining our team!

  • Serving as a supporting member of client engagement teams as a strategist, interaction designer, technologist, etc.
  • Developing cutting-edge thinking on behavioral change, community-building and social action – and how engaging people online can help facilitate change.

  • Flexible and entrepreneurial in the approach to working with our interdisciplinary team to build creative solutions to complex problems

How to Apply

The internship will begin on June 1 through August 15, though end dates are flexible with regard to academic schedules. Interns will receive a stipend. Purpose is located in Manhattan and the role is based here.

To apply, please email jobs@purpose.com with the following items and “Intern” in the subject line.

  • Cover letter: Overview of your professional self and why you want to work at Purpose
  • Resume: Education, experience, skills
  • Storytelling Exercise: We want to know more about YOU, your personality, the human side of things. In two pages or less, or in two minutes or less of video/interactive content, answer these three prompts: What is your purpose?
