Summer Ecosystem Experiences fellowship for undergraduates (various locations)

The Earth Institute Center for Environmental Sustainability (EICES) at Columbia University invites you to Apply Now for the 2014 Summer Ecosystem Experiences for Undergraduates (SEE-U) Program:- Students at all colleges and universities may apply*
- Earn 6 points of science credit from Columbia University in just 5 weeks.
- Takes place in one of three environmental hotspots or human impacted field sites.
- Designed for students of all majors.  No prerequisites required to enroll.


Special fellowship funding is available from EICES.

SEE-U is held in beautiful, yet human impacted, ecological settings – your choice of:

India | Western Ghats *New Field Site*
India is globally recognized as a megadiverse country, containing 70% of the world’s biodiversity. Embark on a journey to explore India’s ecology in the Western Ghats, a unique biologically rich ecosystem home to many of the world’s plants and animals.
Brazil| The Atlantic Forest & Serra do Mar State Park
The Atlantic Forest is one of the most endangered regions in the world. You will work and live in some of the largest remaining tracts of this diverse forest. Tropical flora and fauna abound here, including several endangered primates.


Jordan| Amman, Aqaba, Dana, and Ajloun
You will embark in the exploration and appreciation of Jordan’s ecology through coursework and field research. This location is ideal for biodiversity studies, as a wide variety of flora and fauna are found in Jordan’s wetland, marine, freshwater, desert, and forest ecosystems.

Environmental Leadership Program National Fellowship (MI or OR)

The Environmental Leadership Program is accepting applications for its 2013 National Fellowship Program. The program brings together environmental and social change leaders from academia, business, government and the non-profit sector. It offers intensive leadership training and regional networking opportunities.

Sierra Student Coalition Leadership Training (Various Locations)

The Sierra Student Coalition is taking applications for Sprog, its award winning grassroots leadership training
led by and for young organizers. For over 20 years, Sprog has ushered new energy into the environmental movement by creating a safe and fun atmosphere for young people to learn how to run real campaigns that win.
 
The SSC is offering six Sprog trainings this summer:
·         Northwest Sprog (6/23-30 – Girl Scout Camp Evergreen, Longview WA)
·         Mid-Atlantic Sprog (7/10-14 – Baltimore, MD) *note* this Sprog is the only Sprog happening in a city
·         Midwest Sprog (7/14-21 – Bradford Woods, Martinsville, IN)
·         Puerto Rico Sprog (7/22-29 – Campamento Maria Emilia, Añasco PR)  *this Sprog is held entirely in Spanish.
·         Southeast/Gulf-Coast Sprog (7/28 – 8/4 – Girl Scout Camp Wahi, Brandon MS)
·         Southwest/California Sprog (8/11-18 – Foster Lodge, Mount Laguna CA)

Team Green Sense Counselor (Cambridge)

 The City of Cambridge DPW department seeks a qualified individual to supervise a six-week summer youth program.  The supervisor will work with a group of approximately 12 high school students to lead and coordinate educational activities to support learning and work objectives related to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in an urban setting, and to help these students develop a final project that reflects what they have learned by participating in the program. Experience working with youth (ages 14-18) in informal or experiential education setting.  Demonstrated experience with group facilitation and team-building.  College coursework in environmental science, urban planning, or education preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
