As of August 20, 2013 all 3 confocals, a TIRF microscope and a Laser Capture Microdissection system are available; please email me if you need training on any of the following instruments:
Leica SP2 with dark curtain, mostly in the upright configuration but also available as inverted. This instrument can be utilized for live imaging, in the upright configuration with water immersion lenses. Available excitation laser lines include 457nm, 488nm, 514nm, 561nm and 633nm.
Leica SPE upright confocal. This newly acquired confocal has 405nm, 488nm, 561nm, and 639nm excitation laser lines. Very user friendly, perfect for imaging slides.
Nikon A1R confocal– inverted, capable of live cell imaging. This confocal has an automated stage capable of image stitching, and imaging multiple points in z, over time.
Nikon TIRF inverted microscope capable of live imaging. This instrument can generate very thin optical sections (~200nm) just at the coverslip. Available TIRF excitation and matching emission filters include 440nm (CFP), 488nm (GFP), 514nm (YFP), 561nm (RFP), and 639nm.
Laser Capture Microdissection-Arcturus Pixcell II. Once you obtain the special caps used with this instrument, you can microdissect your sliced (8um) and dehydrated tissue and extract specific regions of interest to analyze for RNA, DNA or protein content.
The internet and USB drives should not be used!! (to prevent the transfer of viruses). Each instrument is equipped with a research storage drive; please email me or Kimberly.Maguschak@tufts.edu for access, or feel free to save your data on cd or dvds provided.
