LCS Vegas: Huge Success!

Thank you to everyone who helped make our annual semi-formal, LCS Vegas, a huge success! At the 17th annual event this year, we raised $5,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Medford and Rosie’s Place in Boston. We were happy to see the over 450 students in attendance celebrating our community’s dedication to service and coming out to support local organizations in need.

Be a second grade math tutor with Medford Public Schools

You will be matched with a second grader and will meet with your student two times per week for 30 – 45 minutes per session. Math concepts will be reinforced through practice and games. For many children having the one-on-one attention can make all the difference. No previous tutor experience is necessary and training will be provided. Sessions may be scheduled before or after the student’s school day. The program runs from October to June. Tutoring will take place at the Roberts Elementary School, the Columbus Elementary School, and the Brooks Elementary School – all easily accessible by public transportation.

Hey Tufts students! Are you new to Tufts and looking for a great way to meet other freshmen and upperclassmen? Or, are you back on campus and looking for a new and exciting extra-curricular? Once you’ve checked out all the volunteer opportunities that LCS offers, the next step is to sign up for more information! The LCS general interest meeting will be Thursday, September 13th at 9pm. This is your chance to meet the students who run our programs and find out how to start volunteering! You’ll also learn about open positions on the LCS directional staff, which is a great way to get involved in the LCS leadership.

Before the GIM, look for LCS around campus and at the Activities Fair. We’ll see you then!

Let’s Get Ready (LGR) is a non-profit that does amazing work by providing disadvantaged high school students with free SAT preparation and college guidance – learn more at their website. LGR is looking for dedicated students to become Site Directors, who are responsible for overseeing the LGR programming at specific schools.

On Friday June 29, the Seaport World Trade Center will welcome over 2500 foreign-born residents to become new Americans. Come to the naturalization ceremony as a volunteer to register them to vote!
