Generation Citizen is a non-profit that partners college students with public school classrooms to teach an innovative action-based civics curriculum two days a week for a semester. As a “democracy coach,” you will teach students how to identify a community issue that matters to them, create a strategic action plan, and then take real-world action on it. Your students will lobby elected officials, write opinion pieces for newspapers, and make documentaries to advance solutions to important community issues. Each semester culminates with Civics Day, at which students present their projects to elected officials and community members at the Massachusetts Statehouse.
