HIV/AIDS Initiative

About Us

Every semester, we hold educational events such as movie screenings and discussions to help advocate for HIV prevention and education efforts.  We also help out at facilities near campus that cater to the needs of local patients.  In the Fall, we collaborate with the African Students Organization to commemorate World AIDS Day with exciting performances from groups like Envy, Over the Rainbow and Dirty River String Band, an open mic, and free food and giveaways.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

To learn more about what we do and our plans for the semester, be sure to attend out GIM on Tuesday, September 18th in Eaton 206.

Our main event for the semester is World AIDs Day, on December 1st. We collaborate with other groups on campus, including VOX: Voices for choice, the Pre-Med Society and the LGBT Center.

In addition, we raise awareness of HIV/AIDS related issues in the community through posters, tabling and movie screenings throughout the semester. We are hoping to work with local shelters and organize field work in the community during the semester as well.
