Come join us for a fun study break onMarch 12th, from 8-10pm in theRABB Room at Lincoln Filene Hall as we host our first decoration night in preparation for Kids’ Day on April 19th. This year’s theme is Jumbo to the Rescue! Stop by and help make decorations for the day modeled af­ter Real Super Heroes (Firemen and Police), Superman/Batman, The Avengers/Marvel Comics, Super Ani­mals, and more!!!

Other decoration nights will also be held on March 26, April 2, and April 7!

Cambridge Shelter is looking for volunteers this Fri­day afternoon, March 14th. LCS Shelters will be unload­ing and organizing donated food.

What: Habitat for Humanity Global Village Build Trip to Guatemala!
When: June 21st-29th, 2014
Where: Chiquimula, Guatemala
Description:  Tina Galante, a recent alum of the Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition, is co-leading this trip as part of Habitat for Humanity’sGlobal Village Pro­gram and she wants YOU to join her! Twenty volunteers from across the country will come together for 1 week to build homes for and alongside low-income Guatema­lan families. You can expect hard work, but also an amazing opportunity to interact with the locals, see some beautiful sights, get to know your fellow team­mates, and make a lasting, meaningful impact on a fam­ily in need. For more information, visit http:// www.habitat.org/gv/trip/GV15214 and contact Tina at tlgalante@gmail.com. UAID: Summer Public Health Opportunity in Haiti – Only 10 Spots Available!

UAID is an international non-profit organization that em­powers students and communities to eliminate health in­equities.  Developed in partnership with multidiscipli­nary healthcare experts in Haiti, UAID is offering ten stu­dents the opportunity to lead a public health initiative in Haiti for two weeks this August.  

Students will first master the history of public health in Haiti through a rigorous 3-month education pro­gram.  Armed with this knowledge, participants will shadow physicians and holistic healthcare workers, visit local hospitals and NGOs throughout the countryside, and interact with government health workers to gain a comprehensive understanding of health inequities in the community.  Finally, students will combine their knowl­edge and hands-on experience to create a sustainable solution that UAIDers will implement for years to come!

Join students across the United States truly passionate about public health in an experience of a lifetime to­day!  Apply here by March 15thhttp://uaidintl.org/haiti-project/.

Earth Day river cleanup -Sat. 4/26, 10am-12, Somer­ville

Herring Run & Paddle - Sun., 5/18, 9am, Somerville – a 5K road race and 3, 9, 12 mile paddling race

Water Chestnut removal days - we could work with a group of students to set up a day(s) for you to help re­move this invasive specie from the Mystic River in the Medford/Somerville area. These events occur from late June through mid August. We provide boats and sup­plies – it’s a fun day on the river and we’d love to have a group help out if there is interest!

Do you like planning events and spreading the word? Or helping set up day-of? Whether your time commitment is big or small, we need you!

 

Be a part of something bigger than yourself and join the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s inaugural Team Momen­tum Volunteer crew. We are looking for individuals to fill various volunteer roles and make a tangible difference in the lives of the thousands of families we serve affected by muscle disease.

 

MDA Team Momentum is an endurance and fundraising program in which participants dedicate their training and race to the fight against muscle disease!
