External Hard Drive Storage

External hard drives are often an inexpensive and fast way to make a backup of a computer.  The drawback to external hard drives is that data is infrequently backed up, and the external hard drive is often stored in the same location as the original data and subject to the same hazards.  External hard drives are also easy prey for thieves when stored in common spaces such as research laboratories.
