Operating System Imaging

OIT provides a service for Research computers connected to Scientific equipment. Once a computer has been configured by a vendor, OIT will capture a full “image” or backup of the Operating System on the computer that can be recovered should the hard drive ever fail. The benefit of having a full backup is in the event of a failure, the old hard drive can be transferred to the new one. This eliminates the need and additional cost of the vendor returning to reconfigure the research equipment.
