End Point Encryption

Whole Disk Encryption is available to faculty and staff who have sensitive information on their laptop. Encryption is a method for keeping information safe in the event that a laptop is lost or stolen.  The encryption client runs in the background and keeps the entire hard drive encrypted, which makes it unreadable by unauthorized parties.  Tufts licenses McAfee End Point Encryption.

Eligibility:

  • Tufts-owned machines for faculty and staff that contain sensitive data.
  • Personally owned laptops are not eligible for encryption and may not store or access the University’s sensitive Data.
  • For more information, please visit the “Guard IT” wiki page on Whole Disk Encryption at Tufts

To request an encryption account, please complete and return the Resource Request Form to OIT.  Under Section 2 Resources Requested, select “Other” and enter “encryption account.”
