Dropbox is a Web-based file hosting service that uses cloud computing to enable users to store and share files and folders with others across the Internet.

Dropbox offers a free service with a limited quota and a paid service with expanded levels of quota.

Clients are available for Windows, mac OSX, Linux, as well as mobile versions for Android, Windows Phone 7, iPhone, iPad, and Blackberry.

Dropbox is a reputable service provider that Tufts is allowed to use, but the security team has not yet evaluated it, so sensitive data should not be stored in Dropbox.

OIT does not recommend installing the Dropbox client on your computer, but instead using the web interface to interact with the files.

Dropbox will give you more space for referring other users through their referral program, and if you sign up with an academic email address, your referral rewards will be increased.
