Is my computer kept up to date?

The Office of Information Technology uses a few different tools to help keep your computer up to date.

For Windows users, we have a Windows Update Server that silently installs all security updates for most Microsoft products to your computer once a month. These updates include critical security updates for Windows, Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Access), Internet Explorer, and other Microsoft software. You may notice a prompt to restart your computer when these patches are installed.

For Macintosh users, we use a product called LANDesk Management Suite to silently install Operating System patches.

For both Windows and Macintosh computers, we use LANDesk Management Suite to silently update common programs such as Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Flash player, Mozilla Firefox, and Java.

If you would like to verify that your computers is being protected with updates, please contact OIT.
