Importing citations in Word 2010 from Endnote X7


Importing one citation:

  1. Go to EndNote
  2. Select the reference you want imported
  3. Right click and select “Copy Formatted”
  4. Go to Word 2010
  5. Click where you would like to insert the citation (Where the superscript goes in the main text)
  6. In the EndNote X7 tab click on “Insert Citation”
  7. In the drop down click on “Insert Citation…”

A new superscript should be created and the reference should be appended at the end of the document with the proper numbering.

Importing multiple citations:

  1. Go to EndNote
  2. Select the references you want imported (Hold the Ctrl key down and select the citations)
  3. Right click and select “Copy Formatted”
  4. Go to Word 2010
  5. Click where you would like to insert the citation (Where the superscript goes in the main text)
  6. In the EndNote X7 tab click on “Insert Selected Citation”
  7. In the drop down click on “Insert Selected Citation(s)”

A new superscript (for example: 5-8) should be created and the references should be appended at the end of the document with the proper numbering.

Inserting a citation manually:

  1. Go to EndNote
  2. Select the reference you want imported
  3. Right click and select “Copy Formatted”
  4. Go to Word 2010
  5. Click where you would like to insert the citation at the end of your document.
  6. Add the superscript manually in the text and change the numbering appropriately in the references.
