UIT Makes Strong Showing at Annual NERCOMP Conference

Members of Tufts’ University Information Technology team turned out in force for the annual NorthEast Regional Computing Program (NERCOMP) conference, held in Providence, RI, March 8th-10th. The 2010 conference, titled The Next-Generation University: Rethinking IT in Disruptive Times, included keynotes by James Hilton,
Vice President and CIO, University of Virginia and Tracy Mitrano, Director of IT Policy, Cornell, as well as two full days of sessions on topics ranging from Enterprise Services and Systems, to IT Support Services, Leadership and Organizational Development to Teaching and Learning.
David Kahle led the way with participation in the NERCOMP CIO Forum. NERCOMP Board member and conference co-chair, Gina Siesing, put in long hours organizing the event and was recognized for her efforts in the introductory session. Tufts’ NERCOMP institutional rep, Kara Bilotta and AT staff member, Sheryl Barnes, assisted with session convening. And, AT staff members David Grogan, Mike Korcynski, Melanie St. James and Hannah Reeves hosted well-received sessions on various teaching and learning projects.
Other UIT members in attendance included Mark Damian, Bidiak Amana, and Marc Patacchiola. Jeff Kosokoff, Director of Library Services & Information Technology at Fletcher, and Evan Simpson, Head of Reference & Instruction at Tisch Library, topped off the list of Tufts attendees, landing Tufts in a tie with Mass College of Art and Design for the highest institutional representation at the conference.
