7/25/11: Apple’s Lion OS for Faculty and Staff

UIT is pleased to announce that the university has entered into an Apple Education Licensing Program (AELP). This one-year program covers university-owned computer systems. It allows a user to upgrade his or her system to the most current Macintosh operating system that the computer is able to execute. Apple’s latest operating system, Lion, has just been released, and upgrades to Lion are also covered under the University’s AELP. If you are using a university-owned Macintosh that is capable of running Lion, then you are entitled to upgrade the operating system for no additional cost.

At this time, the IT support community at Tufts is waiting for Lion to be distributed to them. Once that happens, they will begin testing it for compatibility with other applications. When testing is complete, Frontline Service Providers will be able to make Lion available to their constituents in the Tufts community. Once the software is ready for distribution, your FSP should be able to determine whether your system can support Lion and provide for its installation.
