In the first challenge, a Ditto Pokemon model has been provided. The goal is to succesfully print this model as large as possible and control the time in 2 hours.
First try:
- The print setting is 0.28 mm super draft speed
- Layer height is 0.28 mm
- 2 loops of perimeters
- Solid layers: 1 layer of top, 2 layer of bottom
- 5% of infill density
- The infill pattern is Line, which can help with time-saving
- The distance from the brim/object of skirt was set to 2, though now I wonder why I didn’t cancel the loops
- I accidentally set the seam position as “Aligned” but not “Nearest,” so unfortunately, I lost some valuable time.
- The speed of print moves is changed to the default value, and I increase 3 times of the speed related to solid infill
- No change of filament setting
Finally, the volume is 154.7% of the original size. Not bad, but could be better. I didn’t realize that I could 0% of infill.
Iterative design:
- The infill density is 0% now.
- Still 2 loops of perimeters but 1 solid layer of top, and 1 solid layer of bottom
- No loops and change to nearest seam position
- The temperature of the nozzle is increased by 10 °C
- The speed has also increased a little bit, but I cannot guarantee successful printing
Finally, the volume is 173% of the original size.
