Chris Garimoi Orach

Co-Investigator

Christopher Garimoi Orach is Professor of Public Health at the Makerere University School of Public Health. His PhD focused on Sexual and Reproductive Health of Refugees and Host Populations in Uganda. His research foci include health conditions and services organizations in emergency situations, disaster risk management and reduction. In 2014, he was the lead initiator of the Master of Public Health in Disaster Management at Makerere University. He is currently Head of the Research Group on Disaster Risk Management and Reduction at the School of Public Health. Makerere University. He has recently been Deputy Dean Makerere University School of Public Health and Chair of the Department of Community Health and Behavioural Sciences. 

Harriet Aber

Harriet Aber is a research associate with Makerere University School of Public Health. She have experience carrying out research in nutrition, food security, consumption studies, immunization coverage and disaster risk management. She also has expertise executing both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Her PhD research focus is on health systems that support child health care. 

Evelyne Baelvina Nyachwo

Ms. Evelyne Baelvina Nyachwo is a Research Associate at the Makerere University School of Public Health and a Research Support Officer with Makerere University Research and Innovations Fund.  Evelyne holds a Master of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology. Evelyne has conducted research in complex settings, including disasters and migration, health systems, food security and nutrition, livelihoods in flood-affected districts in the Teso/Karamoja region, maternal and adolescent health, non-communicable diseases, and digital health research. Her PhD research focuses on leveraging indigenous knowledge to enhance the resilience of health systems to climate change in refugee-affected areas.

Amos Deogratius Mwaka

Amos Deogratius Mwaka is a lecturer at the Department of Medicine, Makerere University College of Health Sciences, Uganda. Prior to this position, he was a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Washington Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, USA. Amos obtained an MBChB in Medicine and Surgery, an MMed in Internal Medicine, as well as an MA in Ethics and Public Management from Makerere University.

JohnBaptist (JB) Bwanika

JohnBaptist (JB) Bwanika is a senior surveillance monitoring & evaluation specialist with 20 years’ experience in designing public health information systems, assuring data quality, surveillance of programs, monitoring and evaluation capacity building for districts, evaluations design, data management and analysis, including five years as the Senior MEL advisor on USAID’s Malaria Action Program for Districts. Mr. Bwanika holds a Master’s Degree (Biostatistics), funded by the Fogarty NIH, from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Christine Aanyu

Researcher

Christine Aanyu holds a Masters’ of Public Health and a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology. She is currently a research associate at Makerere University School of Public Health. Her areas of interest are; climate change, health systems, maternal and child health, adolescent health, disability, gender, nutrition, social accountability, communicable and non-communicable diseases. She has over ten years’ experience in research using both qualitative and quantitative research methods conducting household surveys, evaluations, and facility-based studies in Uganda.
