ASSIGNMENT
- “CINDY SHERMAN OBJECT” PROJECT aka “ONE OBJECT STARS in TWO DIFFERENT MOVIES” PROJECT [Hyperrealism Assignment #1] : Create 2 hyper-realistic images of 1 single object — but make the two images tell very different stories. Place the single object into two different scenes. For example, make the first image looks like an old blurry photography, and the second look like a futuristic advertisement; OR, add additional “supporting actor” objects that suggest one narrative, and in the second, a different “supporting actor” objects that suggest very different kind of narrative; OR, use lighting, materials, and objects to make one image look happy and cheerful, and the other look gloomy and scary. What object to use as the “star”? Try to pick an object you really like from the Malopolska Museum Scans (click for link). Try to make the images hyper-realistic, by using these techniques we have learned:
— Global Illumination
— Ambient Occlusion
— Depth of Field
— Lighting with HDRI Sky
— Magic Bullet Looks
— Lighting with Material Luminance
— Adding dirt/irregularities into Displace layer of Material
The project is entitled “Cindy Sherman Object” because Sherman’s “Untitled Film Stills” series show one person appearing as many characters in different films. - READING: download texts about and by playwright Bertolt Brecht
