Founded in 2016 under the Boston Medical Center's Vital Village Network, the Boston Breastfeeding Coalition strives to increase breastfeeding support for every parent in Boston. In addition to providing access to resources like lactation specialists, the coalition also offers opportunities for professional growth for community members.
The Vital Village Network is a coalition of residents and organizations that strive to maximize child, family and community well-being. The network is made up of educators, clinicians, social service providers, legal advocates and residents to strengthen prenatal, early childhood education, and economic security and preventive legal resources that support family and community protective factors.
ABCD is part of the Community Action Network, created from the Economic Opportunity Act. Being that ABCD offers a number of services meant to help low-income communities, many of those services are geared towards family well-being. They offer a number of Head Start programs, resources and initiatives. In addition, for participants who fill out an intake form and quality, ABCD provides provides monthly packages of diapers, serving as a diaper bank.
Project Hope Boston specifically works within the Dorchester and Roxbury communities to help housing stability and economic mobility. This work includes helping families find permanent housing and secure childcare. They developed one of the first shelters meant for families experiencing homelessness in the state and continue to provide job search opportunities and other resources necessary to provide a stable life.
Founded by, Stephanie Johnson, DEM, LC, CBE, Roots Midwifery offers a number of pre-natal and post-partum care services from a team Black femme doulas and midwives. They provide services for both home births and hospital births and the care received is based uniquely in trust and collaboration
